A Cooperation memorandum was signed Between the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and the Faculty of Social Sciences
According to the Public Relations of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, a cooperation memorandum was signed between the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Tehran on Tuesday, June 18th.
This ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Ali Asadi, head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, Dr. Gholamreza Jamshidiha, head of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Tehran, and a group of managers and deputies at the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park.
Dr. Ali Asadi, head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, briefly introduced the Science and Technology Park and said: “So far, technology units and knowledge-based companies have mainly been established and grown in the fields of technical and engineering sciences. Considering the importance of social sciences, our priority at the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is to support ideas and companies in the fields of humanities, social sciences, culture, skills, and soft technologies.”
Dr. Asadi spoke about establishing branches in the faculties of Environmental Science, Geography, Sports Science, and Wellness, among others. He added: “The manner of utilizing technology and innovation in the development of soft topics is very crucial, and we hope to take effective steps in the Faculty of Social Sciences through this memorandum.”
The head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, referring to the launch of the Tehran Innovation District, noted: “The Faculty of Social Sciences is located in the Tehran Innovation District, providing an opportunity to utilize the capacities of both the Innovation District and the Faculty of Social Sciences.”
Dr. Asadi provided an explanation of the progress of the Tehran Innovation District and said: “We are working to obtain the necessary permits and approvals with the cooperation of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution to implement the programs of this district.”
He further added, “Another effort of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is to pursue the approval of the UNESCO Innovation and Technology Prize in collaboration with the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution.”
Dr. Asadi acknowledged the unity among various parts of the University of Tehran and stated: ” We do not have an insular approach at the Science and Technology Park. We are all part of the University of Tehran, and we must strive to achieve the higher goals in the field of science and technology and lead the university to its desired destination through mutual cooperation.”
Referring to the importance of the branches of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, Dr. Asadi noted: ” The branches of the Science and Technology Park are communication channels through which we can help students grow in terms of knowledge and skills and develop a technological and innovative outlook.”
Dr. Gholamreza Jamshidiha, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Tehran, emphasized the differences between humanities and social sciences and other fields such as technical and engineering sciences. He stated: “These differences encompass both theoretical and structural aspects. Additionally, the existence of numerous and diverse concepts and meanings leads to extensive interpretations and understandings, unlike the technical and engineering fields.”
Noting that science and technology parks are one of the essential elements for thriving in the new technological world, Dr. Jamshidiha stated: “The essence of science and the integration of science and practice take place in science and technology parks. We are striving to be present in the social arena and to create a new chapter in social sciences.”
Dr. Moez KhademHosseini, deputy for research at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Tehran, spoke about the necessity of social studies and their connection to economic, political, and other issues. He stated: “The Faculty of Social Sciences offers numerous courses in the field of technology that need attention, such as the sociology of technology, the sociology of innovation, and the sociology of soft technologies.”
Dr. KhademHosseini, emphasizing the importance of signing the cooperation memorandum with the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, stated: “Currently, social sciences are seen as knowledge, while the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is recognized as the symbol and language of science and technology. We hope to implement innovative and technological activities and actions in the field of social sciences through cooperation with the Science and Technology Park.”
It is worth mentioning that this memorandum was signed to utilize the potentials, capacities, and scientific and executive capabilities of both parties to establish a joint collaboration aimed at developing the innovation and technology ecosystem of the University of Tehran.
