The authoritative status of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park; A factor of success in launching science and technology parks

A joint meeting of Heir Al-Anbiya University of Iraq (affiliated with the Holy Shrine), Al-Zahra University of Iraq and the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park was held on Tuesday, July 12.

This meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Asadi, Head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, Dr. Iraj Allahdadi, Deputy for Technology Development of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, Dr. Hadi Ghafourian Yavarpanah, Deputy Executive and Technical of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and Dr. Masoumeh Malek, Director General of Faculty and International Students Affairs of the University of Tehran, Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Haiwai, President of Heir Al-Anbiya University, Dr. Haydar Al-Tamimi, Head of the Educational Department of the Holy Shrine Sector, Dr. Muhammad Al-Tayef, International Relations Director of Heir Al-Anbiya University and Dr. Zohair Al-Mankoushoui, Scientific Deputy of Al-Zahra University.
In this meeting, Dr. Ali Asadi, Head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, referring to the 20-year history of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park as the first university park in the country, said: “Just as the University of Tehran is considered as a symbol of higher education and a reference for all universities and the Ministry of Science, the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is also considered as a reference for all parks in the country.”

He added: “Currently, 220 knowledge-based companies and more than 500 technology and innovation cores are stationed in the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park.”

Dr. Asadi emphasized the slogan of the year and said: “All the activities of institutions, organizations, and universities in the country are moving towards knowledge-based activities; it is believed that if development in the country is to be in all fields, it must be in the framework of knowledge-based.”

Dr. Asadi referred to the importance of the slogan of the year and the support of the University of Tehran’s presidency in expanding knowledge-based companies and added: “The University of Tehran Science and Technology Park has outlined its innovation and technology ecosystem development plan; Accordingly, the focus of the park’s programs and supports is not limited to technical and engineering fields and it will also cover non-engineering fields such as agriculture, language, psychology, art, etc.”

He continued: “Strengthening the organic relationship between the research sector and the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is one of the focuses of the organization, and we are trying to establish an intelligent organic connection.”

Dr. Asadi spoke about the University of Tehran’s goal of establishing 2000 technology and innovation units in the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and said: “In line with realizing this goal, we will make use of the facilities of faculties, faculty members and professors of the University of Tehran.”
Dr. Asadi, referring to cultural, religious and neighborhood commonalities with Iraq, stated: “We are ready to support the Heir Al-Anbiya University and Al-Zahra University in establishing science and technology parks and the activities of knowledge-based companies, and to provide our experiences to them.”
He added: “We hope that as a result of these meetings, a memorandum of understanding will be concluded and then operational activities will be undertaken within the framework of the agreements.”

Dr. Iraj Allahdadi, Deputy for Technology Development of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, introduced the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and said: “The University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is active in Amir Abad, around the University of Tehran and within faculties, and in other cities including Qom, Kish, Aras, etc.”

Dr. Allahdadi spoke about establishing a science and technology park in Iraq and said: “The experiences of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, as well as being aware of and having processes, guidelines in this field, make it effective in establishing a science and technology park.”

He then proposed: “A number of companies from the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park that can be stationed in related fields of interest to Iraqi universities such as biomedical engineering, biotechnology, etc. can be stationed in the science and technology park of Iraq and in addition to designing and producing software and devices, they can also play a role in attracting other companies.”

Dr. Allahdadi spoke about the issues of international communications in Iran and said: “In this period, many Iranian companies have been able to develop and can transfer their experiences to the universities of Iraq.”

Dr. Hadi Ghafourian Yavarpanah, Deputy Executive and Technical of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park stated that the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is the largest university park in the country, and said: “The University of Tehran Park has two types of tangible and intangible assets.” He referred to cooperation with the park companies as one of the tangible assets that can be implemented in the models proposed by Dr. Allahdadi.
Dr. Ghafourian Yavarpanah spoke about intangible assets and said: “Intangible assets in the University of Tehran and in Iran are based on a designed sustainable system, in such a way that the system is maintained by the system itself. This implicit knowledge has been created in Iran.”

He added: “The intangible asset of systemic sustainability is an indigenous model that has been tailored to the problems we face in the Middle East region. According to studies, countries in the Middle East region face similar issues and problems.”

Dr. Ghafourian Yavarpanah emphasized: “Designing indigenous models tailored to contemporary issues is the advantage of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, which distinguishes this feature of the University of Tehran Park from other parks in the country and even science and technology parks of other countries.”

In other parts of this meeting, the participants discussed the ways of cooperation and interaction with each other and then visited Dahian Pezeshki Pishro, Herongar Pars, Heftsin Big Data and Pishtazan Sanaat Faraz Ertebat companies.
