Jaan System: A Platform for the Collaborative Enhancement of Science and Technology Parks Nationwide
A brainstorming session was held among the heads of university and provincial science and technology parks across the country.
According to the public relations of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, the brainstorming session among the heads of the country’s science and technology parks was hosted by the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, with the physical and virtual presence of more than 50 heads of science and technology parks, as well as the presence of Dr. Mohammad Ali Nezhad, the Deputy of Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Dr. Omid Rezaei-Far, the Director-General of Policy, Planning, and Technology Development at the Deputy for Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Dr. Alireza Zarasvandi, the President of the International Science and Technology Park of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Ali Asadi, the head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, and others.
Dr. Mohammad Ali Nezhad, the Deputy of Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, addressed the main topics of the session, stating that discussing the issues and challenges of science and technology parks, as well as presenting reports on the actions taken in the Jaan system and the collaboration on the topics raised, were the main focal points of the session.
He referred to the emphasis of the Supreme Leader’s Office on the need to strengthen knowledge-based companies to prevent the emigration of elites, emphasizing the necessity of creating conditions for their products to be sold domestically and preventing the purchase of similar foreign products.
He also discussed the Tavaniran system, stating that all requests for foreign purchases by various organizations, especially governmental entities, are processed through this system. The system also allows for the examination and evaluation of the existence of similar domestic products, reducing the percentage of foreign purchases to support domestic production.
The importance of providing coherent services to knowledge-based companies and the correct evaluation of their achievements were highlighted by the Deputy of Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, in reference to the establishment of the Jaan system (New Economic Flow), explaining that the products of technology units and knowledge-based companies of science and technology parks are registered in this system, enabling the exploitation, purchase, and sale of products.
He regarded the Jaan system as a central system and a legal tool for supporting knowledge-based companies, stating that non-member knowledge-based companies can also register in this system through the collaboration of science and technology parks and benefit from the advantages of this initiative.
Dr. Mohammad Ali Nezhad also mentioned the integration of the Jaan system and Tavaniran, emphasizing the efforts to utilize the available capacities to strengthen knowledge-based companies and alleviate needs through domestic production.
In this session, Dr. Ali Asadi, the head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, considered scientific associations as a good capacity for effective actions in the innovation ecosystem, stating that scientific associations are key players in promoting the culture of technology and innovation.
He also mentioned the establishment of multiple branches in the faculties of the University of Tehran, stating that the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park has created direct communication by establishing branches in the faculties to benefit from the academic and intellectual capacities of students and professors, moving away from a concentrated focus on the science and technology park.
The session emphasized the membership and activities of science and technology parks, as well as the technology units and knowledge-based companies in the parks within the Jaan System, and various issues were raised by the heads of science and technology parks nationwide.
