The government’s collaboration with knowledge-based companies: A step towards realizing a knowledge-based economy
A joint meeting between the Science and Technology Park of the University of Tehran and the Deputy for the Development of Knowledge-Based Companies was held. This meeting was attended by Dr. Reza Asadi-Fard, the Deputy for the Development of Knowledge-Based Companies, Dr. Ali Asadi, the head of the Science and Technology Park of the University of Tehran, as well as the park’s deputies, managers, and a group of CEOs from technology and knowledge-based companies located in the park.
Dr. Ali Asadi highlighted the park’s status as the first and oldest science and technology park in the country, noting that the number of member and resident companies has increased to 250 in the past year. He emphasized the significance of not only providing space for establishment but also enhancing empowerment, upgrading skills, and supporting entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, the head of the park discussed the strengthening of the innovation center, expressing the goal of allowing student and technology cores to present their ideas and, after transforming these ideas into viable products, transitioning them into start-up companies to create wealth.
Dr. Asadi emphasized the importance of investment in the innovation center, stating that empowering student cores, creating motivation and hope, as well as retaining the country’s experts and elites are the achievements of these centers. He also mentioned the opening of new branches of innovation centers in the past year, emphasizing that the goal is to create an environment for direct interaction with students and faculty not solely centered in the park, including within the faculties.
Dr. Asadi also mentioned the pursuit of converting theses into technology in addition to academic and research pursuits in the branches of the park’s innovation centers and the establishment and drafting of operational regulations for the activities in the innovation zone of Tehran.
He talked about having a growth mindset in the entrepreneurial thinking and the importance of creating innovative zones within the technology and innovation ecosystem, underlining the benefits of nurturing entrepreneurship.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive introduction of the Science and Technology Park of the University of Tehran, followed by the CEOs of the companies addressing their needs and concerns.
