Shahid Chamran Campus of Science and Technology; a nexus between science and entrepreneurial skills in the real world
As part of the development-oriented programs and plans of the University of Tehran, Pardis-e Elm va Fanavari Shahid Chamran, a branch of the University of Tehran, has become operational.
According to the public relations department of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, the inauguration ceremony of the development projects of Pardis-e Elm va Fanavari was held on Thursday, November 8th, with the presence of Dr. Seyed Mohammad Maqami, the President of the University of Tehran, Dr. Ali Asadi, the head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, Ibrahim Kurdloo, the governor of Eshtehard County, Hojatoleslam Davoodi, the Friday prayer leader of Eshtehard County, and several other officials from the University of Tehran and the Eshtehard region.
Dr. Asadi, referring to the initiatives taken by the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park in launching the Pardis-e Elm va Fanavari Shahid Chamran project, stated: “It is a network-based managerial approach encompassing all units of the university to bring forth the fruition of projects and endeavors.”
The head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park regarded this project as a symbol and practical embodiment of global scientific management and emphasized that the collaboration between the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and the Technical and Vocational Organization can be considered as the main reason for the realization of this endeavor.
He further emphasized the diverse functions of Pardis-e Elm va Fanavari Shahid Chamran, noting that it can serve as a platform for practical skills and entrepreneurship to achieve the central motto of the University of Tehran.
Dr. Asadi deemed the establishment of science and technology parks as crucial skill development centers for all universities in the country, stating, “If we want the graduates to have a meaningful impact on society, we must provide a platform for them to interact with the real work environment, rather than confining their activities to classroom and laboratory settings.”
Dr. Asadi praised the University of Tehran as a model for the whole country and expressed hope that all universities in Iran would emulate this project to create an environment for practical skills and entrepreneurship for students nationwide.
Dr. Seyed Mohammad Moqimi, the President of the University of Tehran, announced that the Pardis-e Elm va Fanavari project is a multi-faceted initiative in which all the deputyships and leadership of the University of Tehran have participated in its establishment. He stated that science and technology parks act as an intermediary between industry, university, and society, and the facilitation and institutionalization of these connections can be examined in various sectors.
He added that the science and technology parks encompass various issues such as establishing technology and knowledge-based units, implementing skill development for students, and pursuing cultural activities as well as organizing workshops and professional training for adjacent companies and organizations.
Dr. Moqimi also announced the opening of the Arvand Science and Technology Park in Abadan and emphasized that while the philosophy of science and technology parks is the same, their mission and specific objectives are defined in accordance with environmental requirements.
Referring to the special capabilities of the Khuzestan region, he explained the specific missions of the Arvand Science and Technology Park, including fostering international relations, especially with Iraq and Basra, teaching the Persian language, and organizing professional and formal courses for applicants from Iraq.
It is worth mentioning that the event also included a tour of the buildings and various sections of the Pardis-e Elm va Fanavari Shahid Chamran.
