University of Tehran Science and Technology Park Ready to Cooperate in Establishing an Iraq Science and Technology Park
A joint meeting of the Heir Al-Anbiya University of Iraq (affiliated with the Holy Shrine) with the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park was held on Tuesday, June 6 with the presence of Dr. Ali Asadi, Head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, Dr. Iraj Allahdadi, Deputy for Technology Development of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, Dr. Hadi Ghafourian Yavarpanah, Deputy Executive and Technical of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and Dr. Masoumeh Malek, Director General of Faculty and International Students Affairs of the University of Tehran.
In this meeting, Dr. Ali Asadi, Head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park continued by referring to the naming of the year by the Supreme Leader: All organizations, ministries, universities, especially the University of Tehran, are determined to implement this executive order.
Dr. Asadi stated that the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, the first university park in the country, has nearly 20 years of active operation. He continued: Currently, 220 knowledge-based companies and more than 500 technology and innovation cores are stationed in the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park. Fortunately, these companies have been able to have very positive effects on the country’s development.
He elaborated on the diversity of companies in the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and added: Companies are present in the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park in various forms, including newly established companies, growing companies, and mature companies that can leave the park and move on to mass production of products in society.
Dr. Asadi spoke about the University of Tehran’s policies and added: The University of Tehran’s policy is moving in a direction where today merely research findings are not enough and these research findings must move towards the production of technologies and knowledge-based initiatives. Also in line with the goals of the University of Tehran presidency, this year efforts are made for 2000 technology units to be stationed in the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park.
The head of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, while referring to religious, cultural and religious commonalities with Iraq, stated: We are ready to provide any assistance and cooperation with the Heir Al-Anbiya University of Iraq to develop technology units and knowledge-based companies.
Dr. Iraj Allahdadi, Deputy for Technology Development of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, elaborated on the history of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and said: Currently, after about 20 years of starting the park’s activities, we have 90 growing companies, 90 post-growth companies and 20 development and technology companies; We also have 500 innovation cores that can serve as the foundation for establishing new companies in the future.
Dr. Allahdadi spoke about the branches of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and added: In addition to various parts of Tehran, we have branches in the most remote parts of Iran such as Kish, Aras Free Zone, Qom, Karaj, etc. We will also soon have a branch at the University of Yerevan in Armenia.
Dr. Allahdadi, referring to the University of Tehran’s goal of establishing 2,000 technology units in the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, stated: The University of Tehran has considered many opportunities for accepting companies, especially knowledge-based companies, so that they can benefit from the services of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park. These services include consulting in the fields of business, taxation, insurance, financial affairs, etc., as well as providing any services related to business development. In fact, in addition to providing space, material and moral support for businesses is also provided.
The Deputy for Technology Development of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park referred to US sanctions against Iran and said: These sanctions have created very good opportunities for the country’s innovators and entrepreneurs to produce and provide products and services and develop businesses.
He continued on the topic of cooperation with the Heir Al-Anbiya University of Iraq, saying: We are ready to take steps in the direction of cooperation and participation in order to create a Science and Technology Park in Iraq by providing regulations, guidelines and all the basics needed for establishing a Science and Technology Park and the stages related to accepting and evaluating companies.
Dr. Allahdadi suggested that in creating a Science and Technology Park, they take advantage of the cooperation of the Shrine universities so that they can cover many fields in their own park.
Dr. Hadi Ghafourian Yavarpanah, Deputy Executive and Technical of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park in elaborating the most important task of Science and Technology Parks worldwide and especially at the University of Tehran stated: Converting the university’s most important asset, knowledge, into wealth is the most important task of Science and Technology Parks. This process is the most important task of Science and Technology Parks.
Dr. Ghafourian emphasized that the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is the largest Science and Technology Park in the country and the largest urban park in Iran; he noted: The University of Tehran Science and Technology Park has more than 20 years of experience in converting knowledge into wealth in two areas of infrastructure development and software development, and we can cooperate with Iraqi universities in this regard.
The Deputy Executive and Technical also noted regarding the design and construction of the Science and Technology Park of Iraq currently under design: The design of buildings for the use of Science and Technology Parks has specific characteristics. We are also ready to provide our experiences in the field of designing Science and Technology Park buildings to the Heir Al-Anbiya University of Iraq.
He added: In launching innovation and incubation centers, the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park also has this readiness to have joint cooperation with the Heir Al-Anbiya University of Iraq.
Mr. Meisam Yousefi, head of the Incubation Center of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, spoke about the University of Tehran Park’s experience in launching new parks and said: The University of Tehran Park designed and established the Science and Technology Park of the Ministry of ICT in 2016; We have experience in establishing independent Science and Technology parks.
